Your guide to the most festive Disney World magic in 2022!
Ready for some pixie dust to make your holiday season sparkle? Disney World is magical year-round, but at Christmas, they pull out all the stops. You'll be dazzled by elaborate decorations, wowed by holiday entertainment, and satisfied by scrumptious seasonal treats!
With so much holiday magic, it can be hard to decide what to do, see, and eat. Luckily, that's where I come in!
Here are my 7 favorite celebrations to enhance your Disney World Christmas experience!
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
The Magic Kingdom is absolutely beautiful during the holidays! It's no wonder that they host one of the most popular Disney World holiday events: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Taking place on select nights before Christmas, this after-hours event boasts lower crowd levels than you'll find during the day. Fireworks, a parade, and sweet treats make it a night to remember for kids and adults alike. Make sure you book your tickets as soon as possible--tickets sell out quickly!
EPCOT Candlelight Processional
The Candlelight Processional is one of the highlights of the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. Throughout the month of December, Disney World welcomes celebrity narrators from your favorite movies and TV shows. They take turns telling the story of Christmas while accompanied by a full choir and orchestra. It helps guests to reconnect with the true meaning of Christmas, and it’s one event you won’t want to miss in EPCOT this holiday season!
If you don't want to miss the Candlelight Processional, try and secure a reservation for the dining packages for this event. (I can help with that!) Otherwise, you’ll have to line up well in advance of the show, especially while some of the more popular celebrity narrators are performing.
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays
The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays started in late November and runs until the end of December. As you stroll around World Showcase, you’ll find the Holiday Kitchens and sample festive treats from around the world. You’ll also be able to interact with cast members, who will tell you about the unique holiday traditions celebrated in other countries!
EPCOT: Olaf's Holiday Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt
Kids will love taking part in Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt, which is part of this year’s EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. You can pick up your map for $9.99 at the Creations Shop, World Traveler, or Port of Entry, before heading off to explore the park in a new way: scavenger hunt style! Looking for the hidden Olaf figures is a great way to keep kids entertained while you explore the various countries. At the end of the hunt, don’t forget to head back to one of the stores to pick up your prize!
Christmas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
All four of the Walt Disney World theme parks are gorgeously decorated for the holiday season. We love spending time in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at this time of year, thanks to the beautiful Christmas tree at the entrance and the animal-themed decorations throughout the park. One of the best additions for the holiday season here is the Merry Menagerie. In Discovery Island, you’ll find a group of winter animal puppets that interact with guests of all ages. It adds a little extra magic to the park's entrance!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Christmas Celebrations
A Flurry of Fun will keep visitors to Disney’s Hollywood Studios entertained this holiday season with retro-style decorations. Head to Sunset Boulevard for Sunset Seasons Greetings, a fun evening show featuring lights, music, and even snow! You’ll also find some delicious holiday treats and drinks throughout the park, including Minnie’s Holiday Dine character meal at Hollywood & Vine. Kids will also love having the chance to see Santa Claus in the park, a must-do for every young child during the holidays.
The Disney Springs Christmas Tree Stroll
Ready for a day off from the theme parks? Head over to Disney Springs to experience the (free!) Christmas Tree Stroll. Each of the trees in the trail is themed to one of the most popular Disney movies, and you’ll love capturing precious family photos here during your walk around.
There's no shortage of holiday events to experience at Walt Disney World in 2022!
The magic of the parks makes it really worth experiencing Orlando at Christmas. You'll definitely be dazzled by the decorations and events at each of the four theme parks throughout December.
If you're visiting the parks in the next few weeks, make sure you have a plan in place to help you make the most of your time. The holidays are one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World, but be sure to pack your patience as you’ll be dealing with higher crowd levels.
